It’s no secret that the boys can get a little ornery this time of year. Scrolling your favorite social channels will undoubtedly result in at least a few pictures or videos of big ol’ rutting bulls doing what big ol’ rutting bulls do.
What we don’t typically see is that aggressive behavior towards their female counterparts. With the entire purpose of the rut being to find suitable mates for breeding, males are often found showing their brute strength and strutting their stuff, but when it comes to physicality towards cows, it’s usually only…well, you know.
In an extremely rare occurance, a wildlife photographer was photographing a rutting bull. According to the photographer, he had just finished scrapping with a competing elk and headed on over to assumedly put the moves on this young cow.
In a shocking display of events, he turned on the cow after a singular attempt at mounting her and gored her multiple times with his antlers. The photographer believes one of the tines punctured the heart and lungs of the cow, and the piled up dead not long there after.
