This week the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) released a new video featuring Top Shot Champion Chris Cheng. In the video, Chris goes over the critical element of successful shooting, both on the range and in the field; breathing.
While the video denotes this video is targeted at beginner shooters, my personal opinion is that no matter what your experience, honing your breathing control is an activity we should all revisit from time to time.
The video begins with Chris explaining the effects of breathing when shooting and how the movements your body makes as you inhale and exhale can affect your shot.
He then goes on to demonstrate proper breathing techniques before taking the shot, noting that your best time for squeezing the trigger is in the trough of your breath.
While these tips might be nothing new to many experienced shooters, as our industry continues to grow, there cannot be enough emphasis on proper and safe shooting practices.
