The now controversial topic of captive deer farming has taken yet another unfortunate turn after tragedy struck a small Texas community last week.

Charles Sean Talley, 50 of Sunset, Texas was discovered by his father Charles Talley Sr., lying in the middle of a deer pen that held fallow deer.  Talley Sr. immediately called 911 but by the time authorities pulled the man from the pen, he had succumbed to his injuries.

Montague County Chief Deputy Chris Hughes noted that the man appeared to have multiple punctures in his abdomen believed to have been inflicted by the animal’s antlers.

A few days prior to the incident, Talley Sr. said his son cautioned family members that one of the bucks was in the rut and acting aggressive, stating that no one should enter the pen alone.
