Marine Unit Rescues Deer from Frozen Lake Simcoe

york-regional-police-rescue-deer

Three deer fell through the thin ice on Lake Simcoe, just north of Toronto, Ontario on Monday and the York Regional Police performed a heroic rescue.

After receiving a call from someone informing police that the deer were wandering around on the thin ice about a half-kilometre offshore and then falling through, the Marine Unit was dispatched. With help from the fire department, officers were able to lasso the animals with a rope and yellow harness to safely escort them back to shore.

The animals did not seem to have suffered any major injuries and were released. York Regional Police took to Twitter to remind everyone to stay off the ice as temperatures rise.
