Herd of Wild Elk Rescued from Canal in China

Elk-stuck-in-canal_china

Strange news emerged from the other side of the world when video surfaced of a herd of wild elk had to be rescued from a canal in China.

Police and by-standers did their part rescuing the large animals in Jiangsu Province, located north of the city of Shanghai by building a temporary ramp that would allow the elk to safely climb out of the canal.

Officials are unsure as to what caused the elk, which are nationally-protected in China, to become entrapped in the canal, but did note this was not the first time this had happened. A similar rescue mission took place in October 2015 after another herd of elk became trapped.
