Tylor Kellys Camps and Guide Service, an outfitter located in Norther Maine specializing in moose and black bear hunts captured some surreal footage of a coyote attacking a female deer earlier in February.
The outfitter posted the video to their Facebook page on February 10, 2016 depicting the epic battle out on the ice. The coyote seemingly chases the doe out into the open in an attempt to wear her down, but ends up trying to bite off more than he can chew.
In viewing the 3.5 minute video, you can easily see the level of exhaustion in both of the animals involved in the struggle. The doe continually lowers her head in attempts of keeping the would-be attacker at bay, closely following the wild dogs moves.
In the end, the doe’s perseverance declares her the winner as the coyote retreats up a hill in the distance. While most of us are secretly cheering for the deer, Tylor Kellys Camps Allagash Maine’s caption says it all:
“…in nature there’s no good guys or bad guys. Just animals living life and doing what they were created to do.”

Coyote vs DeerIt was hard to watch what happened on the ice yesterday. A coyote chased a deer out onto the ice and it didn't look good for the deer. But she was a fighter and was able to escape when Wade pulled into the driveway and scared the coyote back into the woods. We found ourselves routing for the deer but in nature there's no good guys or bad guys. Just animals living life and doing what they were created to do.
