Making their way through British Columbia, Cassie Beyer and her husband, Donald Poster were traveling down Highway 93 just outside of Radium Hot Springs, B.C. when they spotted something that prompted an immediate response.
“I’d never seen anything like it,” Beyer told the Idaho Statesman.
The unnerving sight of a juvenile grizzly bear chasing a cyclist down the side of the road prompted Poster to honk his horn and attempt to position his truck in between the bear and his prospective prey.
It wasn’t long before other motorists got involved in the altercation. In a barrage of 4-wheeled locomotives complete with blazing horns and flashing lights, the freshly-formed motorcade worked diligently in an attempt to form a barrier between the cyclist and the bear.
“(Poster) probably honked three or four times before the bear stopped running,” she said.
The commotion finally swayed the bear’s attention, which gave the cyclist the opportunity to gain some distance from the intrigued bruin.
While the cyclist and the motorists never ended up meeting, Beyer and the team of rogue bear managers said they were happy to have helped someone in need.
