Confirmed by both the Boone and Crockett Club and the Pope and Young Club earlier this year, Steve Felix’s official world record elk will be on display at the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation (RMEF) headquarters in Missoula.

While solo hunting with his bow in the fall of 2016, Felix took this massive bull that immediately caught the attention of the two clubs.  The elk has since been crowned the largest elk ever taken in the state of Montana as well as the largest elk shot in North America over the past 48 years.

Officially given a gross score of 447 inches and a net of 430, the elk is a true testament to wildlife management according to RMEF vice president of marketing Steve Decker.

“This bull is a reflection of the importance of quality habitat, wildlife management strategies and hunters who provide funding for conservation efforts through excise taxes on guns, ammunitions and archery equipment, as well as the purchase of tags and licenses,” said Decker.

“We congratulate Steve and thank him for letting us display the mount so all who are interested can come and see it in person.”

The elk went on display this week at RMEF’s Elk Country Visitor Center in Missoula and is expected to remain on location for the next few weeks.
