While the act of a moose shedding their massive antlers is one that takes place each and every year, the opportunity to witness it with your camera rolling is one many of us won’t get in our lifetimes.
A video recently posted to National Geographic’s YouTube Channel, depicts just that.
A Wyoming family was treated to a large bull moose walking near their home near Laramie and quickly retrieved the video camera to capture some fantastic footage of this majestic creature.
As the video goes on, you can hear the family gasping in awe at the size of the creature, particularly the size of its ‘booty’.
The real action comes as the moose gives his head a quick shake and his left antler falls to the snow-covered ground. The family gasps as someone reminds the group that it is a normal occurrence in moose during this time of year.
