Ranch Hand Fined After Filming Grizzly Chase

It was back in March when Lawrence Lane Kennedy posted the now viral video of him and a friend pursuing a grizzly bear in a pickup truck.  It was later revealed that the two men did not intend to worry or harm the bear; they were simply attempting to move the bear away from a herd of calving cows on the Browning-area ranch.

As part of a plea agreement with federal prosecutors, Kennedy was fined $400 and handed a $25 processing fee for unlawfully harassing a threatened species.

As a federally protected species, Kennedy originally pleaded not guilty to violating the Endangered Species Act and settled on the plea agreement on July 5, 2016.

Kennedy went on to state that his reasoning behind creating and posting the video was to create awareness in the immediate area, giving other ranchers the opportunity to protect their livestock.
