Releasing an 8-minute video on Wednesday, Wayne Lapierre got right to the point and challenged the President to a debate on gun control.
Last week’s Town Hall event on CNN hit television sets across America on the heels of Obama’s announcement of new gun control measures. During the broadcast, the president actually poked fun at the idea that this might be some sort of conspiracy, there are many that remain skeptical of his true motives and those who support these measures in Washington. He also went on to say that he would, in fact, entertain the idea of meeting with the NRA, if it presented itself.
Apparently he managed to garner the attention of the CEO of the NRA himself, Wayne Lapierre.
Mr. Lapierre got right after it in the newest video from the NRA, stating;
“Americans will judge for themselves who they believe and trust on this issue – you or the NRA. Let’s see if you’re game for a fair debate,” LaPierre said. “It’s your chance to show the American people you’re not afraid to meet the NRA on neutral ground.”
He then went on, encouraging NRA members and gun owners across the country to swiftly fight back and personally pledged that he and the NRA would fight this until the bitter end.
“Make no mistake: with an opportunity for the president to score political points and claim a cheap victory, this executive action is a bright red line that law-abiding gun owners should cross at their own peril,” LaPierre said.
“Let me be clear: the NRA will fight this illegal overreach more aggressively than we have ever challenged anything,” he said.
