Missouri’s Late Youth Hunting Season Ends with Stellar Results

white-tailed-deer-running

The second portion of Missouri’s youth deer hunting season yielded some fantastic results in early 2016. Deer hunters between the ages of 6 and 15 years of age bagged 2,520 deer during the second half of the season, a number that is more than double that of last year’s numbers.

The Missouri Department of Conservation reported that youth hunters killed a combined total of 16,615 deer during the entire season. While these numbers are impressive, what is more impressive (to me, anyways) is the growing number of children and youth getting out in the field and securing their own wild game, likely with their close family and friends.

It is how it started for many of us and to continue to see this kind of growth can only give us encouragement as a community that hunting is growing at a phenomenal pace and should be enjoyed for generations to come.
